4th of July fireworks in Austin

Austin puts on her sparkle and glitz on the 4th of July and moves to the sounds of the Austin Symphony Orchestra.

The traditional July 4th Concert & Fireworks event is scheduled on Wednesday night-July 4th- starting at 8:30 p.m. at Auditorium Shores. You'll be sharing the evening with 10,000 plus of your Austin neighbors so you'll want to get there early to find parking and a spot on the grass.

If you're thinking of something a little more unique or a little less crowded, check out these suggested locations to enjoy the show!

On the water

For $45-$90, you can rent a kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddle board and watch the sky light up from Lady Bird Lake—as well as start out a bit north of the main action, with perhaps more parking and less chaos. Rowing Dock's rentals for night events are by reservation and prepayment only. Visit the site for details.

St. Edward's University

Watch the show from the spectacular viewpoint of one of the highest plots of land in Austin, conveniently home to a university where you can watch from a blanket (or bleacher) on its sports fields. View campus map here

Barton Creek Mall

Barton Creek Square mall has a spectacular view of downtown from its parking lot and, therefore, any fireworks happening above it. Plus a decent amount of--you know-- parking.

Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve and Scenic Overlook

Watch the show surrounded by nature...and a few friends. This spot on the western edge of the Wild Basin preserve provides a great view of downtown that zooms right over the basin. View map here

The famous Pennybacker Bridge

The panoramic view from the 360 Bridge Overlook near Pennybacker Bridge is spectacular, and even more so when you add in fireworks. This is a pretty popular spot so get there early.
